Tidying text from an email
This is something we all do at some time - receive an email and want to copy the text from it to somewhere else be it a PediTree note, a wordprocessor file or (if you are an Editor!) a DTP program.
The problem, generally, is that the text copied from an email has hard line breaks inserted at inconvenient places according to the way it was wrapped on-screen. It may also have quote characters (typically ‘> ‘) prefixing each of the on-screen lines.
The solution is stripmail, a free utility from:
http://www.dsoft.com.tr/stripmail/
You can read the details on that web site but in essence this program requires no installation, just place the program file somewhere convenient to you (I have a directory c:\AllSorts for such programs).
For simple use …
- Select and copy the text you want.
- Your text is now on the clipboard.
- Run stripmail and press the DoItAll button.
- The clipboard now contains the tidied text.
- Go to your destination window and paste in the tidied text.
